I told you you'd see me in a week.

In truth though, I finished the campaign in one sitting that same night. I only played it on Normal though, I wanted to get to end of the story before I was spoiled. Playing through it now on Heroic, then comes Legendary.

Been clocking up some hours on Xbox Live as well, it's like Halo 2 only BETTER!

One of the cool features of the Halo 3 is the ability to take screenshots and movies from anywhere in the game. Here are a few I grabbed....

I'm cleaning out my room, like totally going through everything. I just came across an old issue of Juice, a now defunct Aussie rock mag. This particular issue is from July 1997.

As we put this edition to bed, news reaches us that Jeff Buckley drowned in the Mississippi River on Thursday May 28. The singer/songwriter was one of the most exciting new talents to emerge in the '90s, although his life has been dogged with personal crises.

The article then goes on to quote the Memphis police...

"At this time his body has not surfaced and he is presumed dead, but we are still searching. We're dragging the river and have scuba divers and a rescue team out. If he'd gone further down and had gotten out, he would've contacted someone. But no-one's heard from him."

It then quotes Jeff posting on his website in early 1997.

"I'm in the middle of some wild shit right now. Please be patient. I'm coming soon to a cardboard display case near you and I'll come out of my hole and will make bonfires out of ticket stubs come the summer..."

So eerie to read about it as if it just happened, but it was really nearly 10 years ago.

Yesterday I did something that 15 years ago, I would have been ashamed of. I bought a Nintendo product.

If you'd told 8 year old Spoonfan that one day he would be the proud owner of a product bearing the GameBoy name, he would surely laugh mockingly at you, before punching you in the groin.

But things have changed, and with Sega now out of the hardware business, I can purchase Nintendo consoles guilt-free. Yesterday I bought a GameBoy Micro on eBay. Picked myself up a bargain too, the retail price of these things is $150. I paid $79 with free express postage. Cheeeeap.

Time for some photos of my new baby.

The last handheld system I bought was my beloved Sega Game Gear. Nothing could go through 6 AA batteries quite as fast, but what a damn fine machine.

It's looking a little large these days.

Fans can look forward to a September filled with classic Star Wars nostalgia, led by the premiere of LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy video game and the long-awaited DVD release of the original theatrical incarnations of the classic Star Wars trilogy.

In response to overwhelming demand, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release attractively priced individual two-disc releases of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Each release includes the 2004 digitally remastered version of the movie and, as bonus material, the theatrical edition of the film. That means you'll be able to enjoy Star Wars as it first appeared in 1977, Empire in 1980, and Jedi in 1983.

This release will only be available for a limited time: from September 12th to December 31st. International release will follow on or about the same day. Each original theatrical version will feature Dolby 2.0 Surround sound, close-captioning, and subtitles in English, French and Spanish for their U.S. release. International sound and subtitling vary by territory.

"Over the years, a truly countless number of fans have told us that they would love to see and own the original version that they remember experiencing in theaters," said Jim Ward, President of LucasArts and Senior Vice President of Lucasfilm Ltd. "We returned to the Lucasfilm Archives to search exhaustively for source material that could be presented on DVD. This is something that we're very excited to be able to give to fans in response to their continuing enthusiasm for Star Wars. I have been waiting so long for this. I love my SE DVD's but this is just tremendous news for my inner geek.

Why do they have to include the SE version as well though? Seems pointless to me... They were released as a box set in 2004, then reissued a few months ago (minus the features disc), now they'll be released again at the end of the year with the original versions included? That's three DVD releases of the Special Edition in less than 2 years!

Plus it's good hearing more about the new Lego Star Wars game (further to this post).
